Our Very Essence

Our very essence:

my own sense is that there is no grand liberation, no ultimate enlightenment to speak of, nor any final awakening at all — it’s more that everything is happening right now, our every search brings us directly to this point of a simple realization that each instant holds the truth of who we really are, and that we belong only to what’s occurring in this moment alone. This present breath is our connection, drawing air filled with the molecules of every past breath ever taken through history and an exhale of our own mark of existence through time. We are linked by breath and molecules, atoms, and particles, a common structure of what we are — and this too is our awakening, enlightenment by way of knowing ourselves by virtue of our very essence, a conspiracy of universal events happening now, now, and always now.

how could we possibly be liberated from this?

and that’s really just to say that we are life, an aspect that’s somehow found itself aware, yet never less than fully immersed in this belonging. We share the last molecule breathed by Buddha, by Jesus, and every single person who has ever come before. Here’s our enlightenment, that our very essence is as subtle as the Buddha’s breath, atoms and particles of a shared existence. We are Buddha and Christ at this exact moment, not separate by any measure of time or belief, again our very essence…
